That's it for new product in 2016. We have a number of projects in the pipeline for 2017, which will involve some ground-breaking new research and archival footage. During the course of the second half of this year we have been able to acquire the publishing rights to the entire image aviation image archive of the great photographer Sergey Popsuevich. His archive, totaling almost 8,000 images, dates back to the 1940s, most of which have never been published before. It is a veritable treasure trove for anyone with an interest in Soviet and post-Soviet aviation.

Although there have been few updates to the Website over the summer, we have been busy!
We are currently in the process of acquiring the rights to the aviation image archive of one of the Soviet and post-Soviet era's most renowned military photographers. The archive contains around 6,000 high-res images, the vast majority of which have never been published before. It's a real treasure trove for our LHD research archive and will prove extremely useful in accompanying some international magazine articles we have prepared for the not-too-distant future.
In terms of new product, we are expecting two shipments from AKAN in the next couple of weeks. The shipments will feature some interesting new product in both the acrylic and lacquer paint ranges. See below for header card previews.
46354 and 47354 represent the camouflage schemes of the T-10K/Su-27K/Su-33 prototypes and early production aircraft of the late 1980s,1990s and early 2000s. It is the original Soviet Navy Flanker scheme. AKAN's research sources for the colors were pieces of wreckage from machine T-10K-1 (Bort 37), which crashed in Crimea in 1988. Once again, unlike other paint brands, the research is original and has been conducted at source in the former USSR. Beware garish future imitators...
46740 and 46741 are from a new series dedicated to Israeli aircraft. These first two releases will feature in the lacquer range.
Finally, we now have both Begemot's 1/48 and 1/72 stencil sheets for the MiG-29 family. These sheets will complement our own recent LHD MiG-29 releases.
BEG 48017 MiG-29 stencils ($14.99)

Two new AKAN six-packs are now in stock:
Soviet aviation experimental camouflage 1939-40 six-pack combo (I-15, I-16, Sb, etc.)
Set 47350 combines the research undertaken in the late 1990s by the authors Vaklamov and Orlov into the camouflage schemes of Soviet aviation and then M-Hobby editor Sergey Svinkov's profiles with Aleksandr Akankhin's latest findings in Soviet archives ('Albom Nakrasok') regarding the actual shades of these unique camouflage schemes. The magazine article appeared in M-Hobby magazine issues 1/99 and 2/99. Both magazines are worth seeking out, although the text is in Russian.

Also now available is AKAN's six-pack for the VVS of Russia's new 'Belbek' Su-27 camouflage scheme. It is referred to as the 'Belbek' scheme as it was first applied to Su-27s of the 27th Mixed Aviation Regiment, some of which were deployed in 2015 from Krymsk to the Crimean Air Base at Belbek (former home of the Ukrainian Air Force's 204th TAB MiG-29s). As ever, AKAN is the only paint manufacturer to research and produce authentic Russian military colors at the source. Beware of imitators!
We will be announcing more new AKAN six-packs next week.

After 2 months of foot-dragging by our friends at Russian Customs, three large AKAN shipments have arrived. The last shipment was only dispatched 7 days ago, so who knows what delayed the earlier two...
The shipments included a number of very interesting new Soviet aviation colors:
As ever, these new colors were researched in the State Archives ('Albom Nakrasok') and mixed by Aleksandr Akanikhin himself. Note the green hue of A-28M and A-28G; very similar to the RAF's Duck Egg Green.
Next AKAN releases wiill be for the Yak-52 and the new VVS Su-27 'Belbek' scheme.

Having maintained our standard domestic US shipping rates at their original 1998 levels for nearly two decades, the latest USPS price rise has finally forced our hand to increase rates. With immediate effect the minimum shipping rate for domestic US orders up to $49.99 in value rises to $7. For orders of $50 and more, the new rate is $8. These new rates do not apply to orders of decals only, which can be shipped in reinforced envelopes. Thank you for your understanding.

1. We just received a large Coastal Craft restock. All boats are now in stock.
2. Also now in stock are two incredible new Russian reference works:
This is an excellent new two volume series on the operational and combat history of the Su-25 'Frogfoot' from 1991 through 2012. These are highly detailed and profusely illustrated Russian-language hardback volumes, available in very limited quantities. It took an age to get them out of Russia, they are expensive and heavy, but they're worth it...
'Su-25 Thirty Years in Service, Part 1 - Soviet Air Force 1981-91' (SU251 - $105)
To quote the author:
"Military service of the aircraft Su-25 (which known by callsigns "Frogfoot" and "Rook") is described in the book. In April of 2011 was celebration of the 30th anniversary since the moment when the first batch production aircraft were delivered to the Soviet Army. Much attention is paid to the operations of "rook" in Afghanistan and aspects of the technical development of the aircraft. The book contains many unique photos, relevant chronology of events. In the book are 400 pages of text and tables and 667 images (all main photos with description in English). Tables are given to the structure of combat divisions and lists of Su-25 aircraft (totally about 600 serial numbers), also the list of accidents and combat losses in Afghanistan. In the appendix are given full and authentic camouflage paint schemes (only combat aircraft of the Soviet period) in three projections for scale modeling. In total there are 29 kinds with history of the origin and significance of the emblems on the fuselages of the Su-25."
Linden Hill note: This volume contains an incredible number of hitherto unpublished photographs taken during Su-25 deployments to Afghanistan in the 1980s. Here's an idea of what part 1 contains:
'Su-25 Thirty Years in Service, Part 2 - Russian and CIS Air Forces 1992-2011' (SU252 - $105)
Again, to quote the author:
'Military service in of the aircraft Su-25 is described in the book. Much attention paid to the operations of "rook" in Abkhazia, Tajikistan, Chechnya and South Ossetia, also to aspects of the technical development of aircraft. Written in Russian. The book is contains many unique photos, relevant chronology of events. Totally 416 pages and more than 1000 pics. In the tables are given structure of combat divisions and lists of Su-25 aircrafts. In the appendix are given 12 full and authentic camouflage paint schemes (past Soviet period).'
Linden Hill note: this just published second volume covers so much of interest to Linden Hill Decals! We're delighted that the authors have agreed to assist us with the preparation of our forthcoming Su-25UB decal sheets. Part 2 covers the Su-25's role in the withdrawal of former Soviet forces in Germany, through both Chechen wars and the conflict with Georgia in 2008, up to the end of 2011. Although Part 2 does not include English-language captions, the photographic contents are an absolute treasure trove for historians and modelers alike.
BUY BOTH VOLUMES FOR $200 (Product code: SU25COMBI). Offer good while limited stocks last.

The numerous La-9 and La-11 sets are designed to correct the recently released Mikromir kits. It's no secret in Russia that these injection-molded plastic kits are very average copies of the highly detailed but expensive Scale Bureau resin originals. The SB kits were actually tooled by Komplekt Zip, so KZ has decided to release the detail/correction sets below to give the Mikromir kits some finesse.
Here are some of the new Il-4/DB-3F sets for the Xuntong kit:
Finally, the popular KZ Su-24M correction sets are back in stock...

SPECIAL NOTE FOR FELLOW CYBER-LUDDITES!
Yes, this creaky old Website is really due for an overhaul, and there are distantly opaque plans to launch a proper E-Commerce site. In the meantime however we're fully aware that our product selection is not exactly for the mainstream, and our loyal customer base, some being fellow travelers since 1998, actually appreciate the personal touch we still use in our order processing. No data mining here! With that in mind, we've just changed our fax number...

We are delighted to announce the release of two new MiG-21 decals sheets!
Now available in both 1/48 and 1/72 scales, 'Brothers in Arms 4' brings together an interesting collection of Type 94 MiG-21s from 1966 through 1992. It features some notable MiG-21PFMs from the Cold War era and its aftermath. The Afghan subjects on the sheet saw service at the very beginning of the conflict (1978), which arguably continues to the present day. The Czechoslovak and Soviet PFMs depicted represented both sides of the 'Prague Spring' protagonists in 1968. In East German service we present the MiG-21SPS in both its most notable public incarnation (730 opened the 1968 World Aerobatics Championships in Magdeburg with a spectacular rocket-assisted take-off) and its most decorated example (560 was the first East German fighter to achieve a 'kill' on a La-17 target drone in 1986 and repeated the feat in 1989, shortly before the Berlin Wall fell. Further afield, we present two PFMs flown by the Mongolian Air Force. The People's Republic of Mongolia was an associate member of the Warsaw Pact. After the local communists were driven from office, the Mongolians continued to fly a few MiGs well into the 1990s.
Finally, we continue our historical coverage of the often overlooked southern Warsaw Pact Air Forces of Romania and Bulgaria. We include Romania's famous 'Papagulul' (parrot) MiG-21. This unique bird flew as a test 'canvas' for the later MiG-21 Lancer A and B camouflage schemes.
